Sorry I meant to say I am using version V1.6 not V7 sorry for the misinformation. which as mentioned uses the same firmware as versions 1.1 and 1.3 and has the same cpu.

  • Owner changed from developers to florian
  • Status changed from new to assigned

This board is already supported in the current codebase, do you mind trying a trunk build and see if it works as you want?

comment:3 Changed 5 years ago by oobe.trouble@…

Sure I would be up for that I just have a few questions:

which image name should I choose?

should I build trunk myself or download and image directly from a specific source?

also I do not know how to recover the router if it doesn't work any tips? I cannot connect via serial console

Hi,

Im trying to flash TD-W8960N with a generic "openwrt-6338GW-generic-squashfs-cfe.bin" firmware file via TFTP. The process is very simple, i can upload the file while router is booting but firmware, doesn't have effect i think this don't load correctly or something... after this, router boots correctly with his original firmware.

Any ideas?

Thanks

  • Resolution set to fixed
  • Status changed from assigned to closed

Fixed in r30821, use openwrt-96358VW2-generic-squashfs-cfe.bin

Tested on a w8960n v1.3... this doesn't work. openwrt-96358VW2-generic-squashfs-cfe.bin or any other openwrt-96358VW2 image don't boot. I've attached the latest log (used openwrt trunk from 25 Sep 2012)

I can provide more information if you need

kernel panic - 25/09/2012

I see no flash device being registered in this boot log, is this a modified kernel?

comment:8 Changed 4 years ago by TigTex <tigtex@…>

No, I grabbed this from the latest openwrt trunk, no modifications at all (openwrt-96358VW2-generic-squashfs-cfe.bin image).
I'm updating the wiki with more information on this device at the moment

I've been checking the sources and I must question this... Does the current kernel has support for the S25FL032A flash chip?

  • Milestone changed from Attitude Adjustment 12.09 to Barrier Breaker (trunk)

Can you try building an image with the attached patch? This will force the spi controller driver to be built into the image. Note that using SPI attached flash is totally untested on BCM6358, so I can't guarantee it will work.

Hello,

If you are working on this, could you please consider the ISDN (ANNEX B) version of this modem - router?

(TP-Link TD-W8960NB)

Flashed openwrt-96358VW2-generic-squashfs-cfe.bin to the router, now there is no access to the router at all. QSS light remains on. Is the router bricked now?

comment:13 Changed 4 years ago by stinger2k

I don´t think so...
Try to access the router over serial connection (Generic Howto - is described in Wiki)

comment:15 Changed 3 years ago by mynard@…

Any Idea if this is still happening, or have someone tried to flash one of these recently with the latest build?

comment:17 Changed 2 years ago by Liuk

Any news guys? I'd also be interested in applying openwrt to this router.

  • Resolution set to not_a_bug
  • Status changed from reopened to closed

We don't accept tickets for wishlist items / requests for hardware support. If you want to add support yourself, see SubmittingPatches for how to get changes into openwrt.

Now what can i do?

comment:29 Changed 18 months ago by anonymous

It sounds no more developers are interested in further development of OpenWRT for this TD-W8960N.
