WEP problems in /lib/wifi/

Reported by: cosi Owned by: developers
Priority: high Milestone: Barrier Breaker 14.07
Component: packages Version:
Keywords: WEP madwifi Cc:

Hi, I've just updated my WGT634U to r5891 and found problems when I use WEP encryption.

I had to make these two changes to /lib/wifi/

changed line 110: iwconfig "$ifname" enc "${key:-1}"

([] Brackets must be removed around the key.)

new line 121:iwconfig "$ifname" essid "${ssid}"

Set the SSID here if WEP encryption is used, because the hostapd is not started afterwards. Not sure if this is the intended way to do this, but it's working fine.

My /etc/config/wireless:

config wifi-device wifi0
        option type atheros
        option channel 6

config wifi-iface
        option device wifi0
        option network lan
        option mode ap
        option ssid PartyLAN
        option hidden 0
        option encryption WEP
        option key "s:lanparty-2006"

Just noticed that the key for WEP has to be set in this way:

        option key1 "s:lanparty-2006"
        option key 1

I didn't realize because I was using WPA before where 'key' really contains the key. So this ticket can be closed but it's confusing that for WEP the 'key' doesn't contain the key but the key index.
