Description

Hello,
i just got this ZTE H218N (~500mhz cpu, 64 mb ram, 16 mb flash, 2 voip ports) that might work with OpenWrt, i managed to connect via serial and boot with openwrt-brcm47xx-vmlinux-initramfs.elf via tftp, i'm attaching the dmesg log with the ramdisk, below the nvram show output.
My question is: does this device have any future with OpenWrt? i see that network and wireless aren't working..

the router is similar to Linksys E1000 v2.1, Asus RTN12-B1 (wireless core)

both have the same issues w. wireless/switch atm:
#14135
#10987

"future in OpenWrt" is such a broad question:

  • telephone is unlikely to work
  • wireless depends on reverse engineering or Broadcom publishing specs (afaik they don't do that) or publishing drivers (they do that for some chosen hardware and not all hardware or even newer hardware)

Hauke: Too bad this nvram doesn't have anything ZTE H218N specific... Any idea how we could detect it? :|

  • Owner changed from developers to hauke
  • Status changed from new to accepted

We probably need a device detection based on boardnum, boardtype and boardrev

Thank you for reporting, the Ethernet problem was fixed in r37993, r37994, r37995.

Detection for this board was added in r37996.

Like zloop said, telephone and wireless will not work.

I'm from China, sorry for my poor English. I know very few about openwrt, I don't know how to compile. I have a router, H218N, and I found a few days ago, some one in China had got the wifi code from GPL_RT_AC66U_3004372.zip, and the wireless did have been supported. The source code can be found here http://pan.baidu.com/s/1mgKK5pY ,the withdraw code is tkn6.

the manufacturer (ZTE) must release the code oficially, downloading random code from illegal or shady locations like that baidu file location is not acceptable for a public project.

the source code can be downloaded from the official website http://support.asus.com/download.aspx?SLanguage=en&p=11&s=2&m=RT-AC66U&os=8
