Description

hi guys this is low priority, but the script for dynamic dyns script for provider (namecheap) is a not working out of the box. This is my script below.

it has 2 flaws.
"namecheap.com" "http://dynamicdns.park-your-domain.com/update?host=[special characters]&domain=[USERNAME]&password=[PASSWORD]&ip=[IP]"

the domain and hostname are back to front (domain should be username) using name cheaps wiki. also for host there needs to have special characters for the host name. i.e if u have subdomain of xx.mydomain.com. you can only enter xx as host. or if you have a few entries for the main domain u need special characters, i.e @ -a mail -a www etc. I can see it affects the gui as this works off the information entered in hostname. cheers

Hi,
I think there are only 2 possible solutions:
1) use custom update_url (easiest because only update OpenWrt's Wiki)
2) write a separate script like for cloudflair.com or no-ip.com

Script problem is to find a logic how "option domain" is going into [special chars] because the domain entry is used unchanged to nslookup the current IP "in the world".

ddns-scripts is not designed for multihost updates. For multihost updates only a "hardcoded" custom update_url will help. For single host updates a separate update script should help.

You wrote: "if u have subdomain of xx.mydomain.com. you can only enter xx as host"
Is it a can or a must

Hi anonymous,
from my knowledge OpenDNS.com is a DNS server service not a Dynamic DNS service provider.
If you don't own a domain or have one registered at a DynamicDNS provider, what do you want to update ?
"Network" names are not registered in the DNS, only Domain-/Hostnames are registered here.

I do not understand what your problem is together with namecheap.com Dynamic DNS provider ?

Please give me some more information what you want to do ?
Which Dynamic DNS provider and software versions are you using ?
Please also have a look into the WIKI at
http://wiki.openwrt.org/doc/howto/ddns.client and
http://wiki.openwrt.org/doc/uci/ddns
