WL-520G , after upgrade the default openwrt-brcm-2.4-squashfs.trx

telnet and change password,
set the password combination of upper and lower case letters and numbers

show error

An error occurred updating the password file

I get this same error after upgrading, I am quite sure there is not enough space, however at this point I need to make some changes and am unable to. How do I go about fixing this problem ?

This forum thread clearly indicates there's not enough flash space (only 2 MB):
