The creation of the kmod-i2c-core package fails due to missing i2c-core.ko. This file is not built as module but included in the kernel due to CONFIG_I2C=y instead of CONFIG_I2C=m.
File target/linux/avr32/patches/100-git_sync.patch already contains a patch for the atstk1006_defconfig.
Since kernel 2.6.25, the defconfig for all AVR32 boards contains "CONFIG_I2C=m" and this a is valid setting for all 2.6 kernels as the i2c-core.ko module depends on it for a long time already.
Please apply attached patch. Tested on trunk r11629.
