#3920 closed defect (wontfix)

DEPENDS parameter should be used during "install" too

Reported by: steven@… Owned by: developers
Priority: normal Milestone:
Component: base system Version:

If I use DEPENDS in my description, what my understanding was is that the project I make depends on that one. Which means it should be compiled first, installed first etc...

Now when I have this:
define Package/dropbear_proxy

It compiles first dropbear, and afterwards the proxy...

make[2] package/compile
make[3] -C package/dropbear compile
make[3] -C /home/steven/wrt/dropbear_proxy compile

But during install time it first installs the proxy, and than dropbear...

make[2] package/install
make[3] -C /home/steven/wrt/dropbear_proxy install
make[3] -C package/dropbear install

My thinking is the order should also be kept during install so I can overwrite files which are installed by dropbear.

Thanks :)

  • Resolution set to wontfix
  • Status changed from new to closed

packages must not overwrite each other's files, because this always leads to trouble when installing packages on the device itself.
