WRTSL54GS lan config to vlan broken

Reported by: lschweiss Owned by: developers
Priority: normal Milestone: Barrier Breaker 14.07
Component: base system Version:
Keywords: Cc:

Description

When configuring vlans on the wrtsl54gs any vlan configuration on the lan setup sets eth0 to the lan config.

For example:

#### VLAN configuration
config switch eth0
        option vlan1 "0 1 2 5u"
        option vlan2 "3 5u"

#### Loopback configuration
config interface loopback
        option ifname "lo"
        option proto static
        option ipaddr 127.0.0.1
        option netmask 255.0.0.0

#### LAN configuration
config interface lan
        option ifname "eth0.1"
        option proto static
        option ipaddr 192.168.2.1
        option netmask 255.255.255.0

config interface dmz
        option ifname "eth0.2"
        option proto static
        option ipaddr 10.0.2.254
        option netmask 255.255.255.248

#### WAN configuration
config interface wan
        option ifname "eth1"
        option proto dhcp

results in eth0 set to 192.168.2.1 and no vlan1 being created. In the above example vlan2 is configured correctly.

you cannot have 2 untagged vlans on the cpu port.

You have to tag the vlans vs the cpu:

config switch eth0

option vlan1 "0 1 2 5t"
option vlan2 "3 5t"

eth0.1 is _always_ tagged vlan1 on the cpu port and eth0.2 is _always_ tagged on the cpu port while eth0.0 is can be a native or a untagged vlan (if you decide to use a untagged vlan you can only bring _one_ vlan to the cpu).
