#4368 closed defect (worksforme)

No core dump on armeb (ixp4xx)

Reported by: peter.kraker@… Owned by: developers
Priority: normal Milestone:
Component: base system Version:
Keywords: core dump, armeb, ixp4xx Cc:

Core dumps are not generated on ixp4xx (Gateworks Cambria, OpenWRT Kamikaze bleeding edge r13619).

Core dump is enabled in busybox (also .init_enable_core is in root directory) and ulimit in bash shell reports:

root@R1:~# bash
root@R1:~# ulimit -c

Same setup works for x86 architecture (i486 Alix, OpenWRT Kamikaze bleeding edge r13139).

Test programs:

int main(int argcm, char **argv) {
    int *p = 0;
    *p = 1;

    return 1;
int main(int argc, char **argv) {
    main(argc, argv);
    return 1;

Is anyone looking into this?

I don't want to duplicate work if someone is.

Is your core dump kernel option on ?

make kernel_menuconfig then

General setup ---> Configure standard kernel features (for small systems)
and enable [*] Enable ELF core dumps

Try that and see
