#4651 closed defect (obsolete)

Hard crash of router by pressing RESET or SES button

Reported by: rossw Owned by: developers
Priority: high Milestone: Barrier Breaker 14.07
Component: base system Version:
Keywords: Cc:

Hardware here is a brand new linksys WRT54GL, hardware version 1.1.
Downloaded the current firmware on monday last and flashed.

root@OpenWrt:~# uname -a
Linux OpenWrt 2.6.22 #2 Sun Sep 30 20:38:47 CEST 2007 mips unknown

Pressing either reset or ses button instantly terminates all ssh sessions into the box, it no longer responds to pings or httpd requests.

Tried to set up a hotplug handler for it but I'm not sure that it even gets that far. Hotplug handler simply toggled orange LED, but crash was before it even got that far.

Only thing I've found to bring it back from the dead has been a powercycle.

(I've only marked the priority as high because I don't know how to procede from here, but I have ten of these units sitting, waiting to be completed - but stopped dead in my tracks because of this)

hello dev team,
i have wrt54g v3.1 & have noticed the same response here after flashing a self compiled r14489.
the only compiled modules were ext3 & mmc over gpio (for mmc mod) - hope it add some clue.

another thing worth writing :
after power off & switch on while pressing the reset button - it came back to life & all normal from that point on.

  • Resolution set to obsolete
  • Status changed from new to closed

2.6.22 doesn't look like it was anything close to being the latest. look at the build date, it's from 2007.
this particular issue should be gone in current versions
