The 8.09 Kamikaze firmware includes a nice and easy to use firmware upgrade tool. Unfortunately new users to openWRT does not know that the upgrade tool needs a TRX, and not a BIN firmware image.
A new user also does not know the difference between a TRX and BIN firmware image. We know the difference:
But a new user does not.
Also the download server of openwrt downloads.openwrt.org is not optimal for a new user. For example the firmware for http://downloads.openwrt.org/kamikaze/8.09/brcm-2.4/
Most of the files are .bin files. There is just one .trx file. The probability that a new user will choose a .bin instead of the .trx file is very big.
So there is a problem:
new users will choose a .bin firmware image (with a very high probality)
they will this .bin firmware to flash their router.
So my suggestion:
Add two additional sentences to the website of the firmware upgrade tool. Maybe something like that:
"The Luci firmware upgrade tool need a .trx file, not a .bin file. Please download the .trx which is apropriate for your device. You can download a firmware on downloads.openwrt.org"
This simple sentences will help new users a lot.
