#6234 closed defect (worksforme)

CRDA domain of GB does not allow access to channel 13

Reported by: tim@… Owned by: developers
Priority: normal Milestone: Barrier Breaker 14.07
Component: packages Version:
Keywords: wireless, GB, channel, 13 Cc:

I have tested this on a number of current trunk builds by doing the following:

opkg install kmod-ath9k iw hostapd crda

iw reg set GB

root@OpenWrt:~# iwconfig wlan0 chan 13
Error for wireless request "Set Frequency" (8B04) :

SET failed on device wlan0 ; Invalid argument.

I have tried grabbing the latest crda datebase from here:

I know that on Ubuntu 9.10 using the shipped with Ubuntu the domain is set and will correctly access channel 13.

As far as I know channel 13 is permitted in the UK.

It's not an issue with CRDA. Your card is probably programmed for a different country setting. You can override it by setting the ATH_USER_REGD option in openwrt menuconfig and rebuild, but we won't enable that by default because of regulatory implications.
