Description

There are some problems installing pciutils into a destination other than root:

# opkg --dest opt install pciutils

Installing pciutils (3.1.7-1) to opt...

Downloading http://downloads.openwrt.org/backfire/10.03-rc3/ar71xx/packages/pciutils_3.1.7-1_ar71xx.ipk.

Configuring pciutils.
/optusr/lib/opkg/info/pciutils.postinst: line 2: /usr/sbin/update-pciids: not found

# /opt/usr/sbin/update-pciids

Connecting to pciids.sourceforge.net (216.34.181.96:80)

pci.ids.gz.new 100% |*| 167k 00:00:00 ETA
Done.

Same situation for usbutils

In the last revision I had to do this for pciutils:

# ln -s /opt/usr/share/pci.ids.gz /usr/share/

Now this is not required ... lspci correctly reads from /opt right
off the bat.

This is not the case for usbutils:

# lsusb

lsusb: cannot open "/usr/share/usb.ids", No such file or directory

Bus 001 Device 002: ID 05e3:0723

Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002

But I can do this:
# ln -s /opt/usr/share/usb.ids.gz /usr/share/

# lsusb

Bus 001 Device 002: ID 05e3:0723 Genesys Logic, Inc.

Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub

You should use block-extroot then you don't have to deal with such...

Fixed in r20962. You will have to specify the ID database path with -i option for pciutils.

Thanks for reporting!
