tcpdump full fails to compile

Reported by: framer99 Owned by: developers
Priority: normal Milestone: Barrier Breaker 14.07
Component: packages Version: Trunk
Keywords: tcpdump compile fail ntohl ntohs undefined reference Cc:

never saw a problem with tcpdump compile until today. A quick google on the compile error showed a gentoo fix for the same errors was to compile with -O2.

Attached patch worked for me on x86 for tcpdump-full.

compile errors were hundreds of lines like this:

print-isakmp.c:(.text+0x581d): undefined reference to `__ntohs'
print-isakmp.c:(.text+0x5851): undefined reference to `__ntohs'
print-isakmp.o: In function `ikev2_print':
print-isakmp.c:(.text+0x5c88): undefined reference to `__ntohl'
print-isakmp.c:(.text+0x5ca8): undefined reference to `__ntohl'
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make[4]: *** [tcpdump] Error 1

i think this changeset:

which adds -Os optimization for net5501 would also fix this issue since I was building for net5501.

so i think this can be closed now.
