I have 1043nd v1.8 too, but I don't lose control over my device after enabling wifi with the latest rc5 testing. Try to specify a channel for wifi and don't use auto channel selection.

I have a similar issue with latest backfire sources on ar71xx (routerstation). The difference is that i'm loosing control (ssh, web) as soon as i enable a second wifi interface in client mode (the first is on ap mode).

I will investigate further and report.

  • Component changed from luci to base system
  • Owner set to developers
  • Priority changed from highest to response-needed

Please test RC5, I did not experience lockups with it so far.

I have experienced the same issue with RC5 on one of the two test systems that i have. System responds to ping, but web or ssh access is not working.

The strange is that the one system (RS) that i have is behaving ok, but not the other (same hardware). The misbehaving system war running fine with one minipci card and older version of Backfire for about 8-9 months with multiple reboots without issue.

Are you able to monitor the affected system via serial console?

I'm afraid not. It is on a mountain and i think RS (not the pro version) has no serial console.

As long as it is not reboot it runs fine without issues. Also if a hard reset is made (cutting the power) 99% is coming up without issues.

Okay. Maybe watch out for certain traffic patterns which could be correlated with the crash, also a remote syslog server might help.

It has not to do with traffic patters, because it is only happening when a reboot command is executed.

I will setup a remote syslog, but again i'm afraid that the error is somewhere earlier than the logging service will start and it doesn't happening when the system has complete is boot.

Do you use any usb peripherals, like mass storage + extroot etc.?

comment:10 Changed 6 years ago by strzol@…

No just a CM9 minipci card on an active link and one SR5 that is just broadcasting without passing traffic (for now). Also only the on eth device (lan) is connected and configured.

OK.

  • Resolution set to worksforme
  • Status changed from new to closed

We got no similar reports for 10.03.1 on the TL-WR1043ND therefore I assume you either experienced a hardware issue or the underlyingproblem has been addressed.
